Biography

Raised in Toronto, Bob’s necessity to communicate was nurtured by the hours he spent listening to the radio. This love of expressing yourself through word and sound would lead to Humber College’s Radio Program where he graduated at the top of his class.

After years of writing copy in radio stations around Ontario he got the copywriter's dream job. Senior copywriter at Chum Television where he helped launch MuchMusic. But that was just the beginning. For the next two decades, he wrote promotional-marketing-advertising and sales copy for the launch of CP24-Bravo-MuchMoreMusic-Space the Imagination Station-Fashion Television Channel-Sex television and many other channels that emanated from the Chum TV building. Bob would be responsible for writing over 1500 radio commercials, 17 sales kits, hundreds of brochures, invites and copy for thousands of “things” that can’t be put into any one category, but came up continually when promoting a TV building that produced programming for over ten TV channels.

As well as being the senior copywriter, he eventually took on the added task of being Manager of Audio Production where he was responsible for the “voice” sound of all the TV stations that emanated from 299 Queen West. Recording over 30 voices a week he would work with a 30-year veteran one minute and in the next session work with a newbie who had never uttered a word in public.

Since working for Chum Television Bob has been a writer at MZTV, a morning show producer at Classical 96.3 where he booked guests, operated the board and prepared talking points for the two on-air hosts. He has written weekly articles in Toronto newspapers, freelanced for marketing companies and for the past 10 years has volunteered his writing skills to both the Green Party of Canada and the Green Party of Ontario.

I think the work I do is good. When Bob Cook produces I can confidently say that what I put out is great.
